Relaxation Massage vs. Therapeutic Massage: Which One Do You Actually Need?
Not every massage needs to do the same job.
Some days, what you need most is to slow down. A relaxation-focused massage uses a more flowing rhythm and comfortable pressure to help the whole body settle. Other days, there may be one area that keeps asking for attention, like a shoulder that always feels tight or a low back that never quite loosens up. That is where therapeutic work can make more sense.
The biggest difference is the intention. Relaxation massage is about overall ease. Therapeutic massage is more specific and may include focused pressure, trigger point work, stretching, or other techniques depending on what is going on.
Neither one is better, and deeper does not automatically mean more effective. The right choice is the one that matches what your body needs that day.
A helpful question to ask yourself before booking is: Do I want to unwind, or is there something specific I want addressed?
